We still don't know if Armie Hammer actually sells timeshare system in the Cayman Islands

The attorney for the representative in question said he "cannot confirm or deny" whether Hammer was working at a Caribbean resort.

Since a viral tweet was posted last week, rumors have spread that embattled actor Armie Hammer may be working at a hotel and resort in the Cayman Islands. And despite the recorded denials from the hotel in question, the rumors have yet to subside, thanks to photos showing Hummer at work and reports that the hotel was covering up.

In an effort to seek clarification, EW contacted Hammer's attorney, Andrew Brettler, on Wednesday to ask if The Death on the Nile and Call Me by Your Name were selling time shares in the Caribbean.

"I can neither confirm nor deny that my bullet did not hit him," Breitler said in an email. "I think if you were selling time subscriptions, the media would shame you because you got a 'normal job'. What's the story here?"

This is what we are all trying to find out.

The story began on July 6 when Desus & Mero producer Mona Meir tweeted a message from Morritt's Grand Cayman Resort that Hammer worked there as a doorman. (The tweet has since been deleted.) Hotel staff quickly denied to EW and other outlets that Hammer was working there, calling it a joke. "You can't pay for this ad," a Morett employee joked to EW.

The story got complicated when TMZ released photos showing Hummer working as a time seller. But the station confirmed that the footage was in fact of Hammer's visit to the foundation's office. Chris Butcher, director of sales at Morett, told the Los Angeles Times on Monday that Hammer was not an employee but was playing golf with an employee who invited him to "stop and see what we're doing."

Two days later, Variety reported that Hammer was actually working for timeshare dealer Morett, citing an unnamed source who said the hotel was covering up their hotel.

He works at the spa and sells rations. "He works in a small room," the source said. "The truth is that he is completely broke, trying to fill his days and earn money to support his family."

When EW arrived at the hotel Wednesday night for comment, a staff member said all administrative staff had left for the day.

Hammer was unlucky last year after being embroiled in a social media scandal and being accused of sexual assault. He described the controversy on social media as "bulls---" and vehemently denied the allegations of sexual assault.

Despite the denials, Hammer was disillusioned with his agency and publicity and withdrew from several of the film projects he joined, including the Shotgun Wedding, the television series The Offer, and the Broadway show The Minutes. Hammer was last seen on screen in Death on the Nile, which was filmed in 2019 and finally released in February.
