Everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Day 2022

Amazon Prime Day is officially in less than 24 hours. Of course, it's never too early to start making and writing your big wish list.

Read on to find out what we know about Prime Day 2022 so far, and what you can do now to make sure you're ready when prices finally drop.

What is the first day?

Prime Day is Amazon's annual sales event exclusively for Prime members. They usually offer a day or two of special savings on thousands of items across all product categories.

When is Prime Day 2022?

Amazon has announced that Prime Day will take place on July 12 and 13 this year. The first shows began on June 21.

In previous years, Prime Day was celebrated in July, but the sale in 2020 was postponed due to the pandemic that occurred in October. In 2021, Prime Day takes place at the end of June and returns to the usual summer hours.

How to prepare for peak day

First, make sure you already have an Amazon Prime subscription. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial here, after which your subscription will cost $14.99 per month or $139 per year (price rose last February from $12.99 per month to $119 per year). In addition to the free 2-day express shipping, you'll also get access to ad-free music streaming from Prime Video, unlimited photo storage, and unlimited playback. Many of the best Prime Day deals, including Lightning deals (we'll get to that in a second), are only available to Prime members.

Once your membership has completely expired, you should take some time to ensure that your payment methods, including one-click setup and default delivery, are up-to-date so that you can complete the required offers in a timely manner.

Retailers with competitive sales on Prime Day

Remember: Amazon Prime Day isn't the only big sale to watch. Other major retailers, including Walmart and Target, are likely to hold their own mega sales and contests, although those events haven't been announced yet.

How to find the best Prime Day deals

You'll need to bookmark the Amazon deals page, which should display all of the items included in the sale. Make sure to check in early and often on D-Day; Prime Day deals are known to sell out quickly and new deals are likely to be added during the sale.

You'll also find popular Amazon Lightning deals on the page above (you can filter your deal to see only Lightning deals using the panel on the left side of the page).

Finally, be sure to follow CNN Underscored on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and check back often. On Amazon Prime Day (and every two days of the year), we'll highlight the best 24-hour deals you won't want to miss.
