Rapper Lil Tjay reportedly underwent emergency surgery after being shot in New Jersey.


In a morning tweet, the Bergen County District Attorney's Office said its Major Crimes Unit and Edgewater Police Department are investigating a shooting with two victims that occurred around midnight Wednesday at 14 The Promenade. , which is a mall in Edgewater.


TMZ reported on Wednesday that one of the victims was the 21-year-old rapper and that he was undergoing surgery. It is not yet known the extent of his injury and his condition.


Representatives for the rapper, whose first name is Tony Jayden Merritt, and the attorney general's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Times on Wednesday.

The shooting allegedly occurred at two locations, at the Chipotle restaurant at 14 The Promenade and at a nearby Exxon gas station, TMZ reported.
