Bette Midler stirs controversy by saying everyone's trans language erases women

Bette Midler was on fire on Twitter on Monday when she tweeted about the transgender community and the language used to describe them.

The 76-year-old Hoccus star wrote, "Women of the world! You are stripping us of our rights to our bodies, our lives, and even our names!"

"They no longer call us 'women', they call us 'born people' or 'menstruating people', and even 'people who have vaginas'! Indelible! Every human being on earth has a debt."

Twitter users criticized Midler on social media, with many saying his words were wrong.

"I'm really frustrated with this as a transgender man and fan of Bette Midler. Bette, including trans men in RH conversation, doesn't hurt women. One of the guys replied that our old First Wives club had the same members, even more." vulnerability, as the liaison coordinator.” From IS.

Writer Roxanne Gay said, "No one is trying to erase women in generic language about people who need abortion services. Nobody is calling you for anything other than what you prefer. You should return that compliment."

Another fan exclaimed, "Did you know that not all women are 'born' and not all women are born?! On the wrong side of history with this. #TransWomenAreWomen #TransMenAreMen #TransRightsAreHumanRights."

Another explained, "As a woman without a uterus, I support the inclusive normalization language that trans men also need reproductive health care, 100% and not trans people who deny me my right to a physical [anatomy]. We are all fighting against the same battle."

"Don't do that, Pete. Birthing people is the language used to make sure we don't exclude transgender men. Another user noted that it doesn't remove women at all."

Midler's comments come on the heels of vocal comments from singer Missy Gray.

Gray, 54, recently appeared on TalkTV about Piers Morgan, and explained that being a woman requires you to be born with a "breast" and a "vagina."

"Just because you're going to change your parts doesn't mean you're a woman," she said. The singer also explained that while standing up for transgender rights, she draws the line in sports competitions.
