AUSTIN - Sales of Mega Millions on Tuesday, July 26th continue to soar, bringing the jackpot to nearly $830 million. The jackpot is the third largest in the history of the game and the fourth largest in lottery history in the United States. Tuesday's drawing features an estimated cash value of $487.9 million. If there is no Mega Millions jackpot winner tonight, the jackpot on Friday, July 29th will be $1.025 billion.

“Massive multimillion-dollar sales remain strong for the Texas Lottery during the current GP, which will generate much-needed revenue for Texas public education,” said Gary Grieve, CEO of Texas Lottery. "As excitement builds for Tuesday night's grand raffle, we're keeping our fingers crossed that the first prize winner will be a Texas Lottery® player. Most importantly, we also want to remind our players to gamble responsibly. It only takes one ticket to win."

Tuesday's drawing will be the 29th in the current Mega Millions jackpot competition since it began with around $20 million in the April 19 draw. This is the biggest Mega Millions jackpot since January 22, 2021, when it reached nearly $1.05 billion, and is the second-largest jackpot in the game, ever won by an out-of-state player.

Texas has had 13 Mega Millions jackpot winners since joining the game in 2003. The most recent jackpot winner came in September 2019 when a resident of Leander took home $227 million, the largest prize ever paid to a single player in the Texas Lottery.

Since the start of 2022, five Texas Lottery players have won the second-tier Mega Millions jackpot of $1 million or more, including two in the current jackpot. A Houston resident took home a second-tier prize of $1,000,510 in the May 13 draw, and an Ingram resident took home a $2 million second-tier prize in the June 17 draw.

Mega Millions is played by choosing five numbers from field 70 and one Mega Ball number from the second 25-digit field. To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players must match all six numbers drawn, including the Mega Ball. Players who match a smaller number may not win the jackpot, but they can still walk away from the winners. Mega Millions currently offers a jackpot starting at $20 million and a Tier 2 (Match 5 + 0) prize of $1 million. By choosing Megaplier® for an additional dollar per game, players can double, triple, four or five times their non-jackpot winnings and win up to $5 million.
