FEST 2022 Summer: All the news and trailers

FEST 2022 Summer All the news and trailers

Summer Games Festival host Jeff Kelly has warned fans to temper their expectations for today's live event, which begins with several days of demos and events. In fact, the show wasn't much publicized, especially since one of its biggest announcements, a new PlayStation 5 copy of The Last of Us was leaked right before the show.

But the Summer Games Festival has managed to bring plenty of surprises and new games to the headlines next year. Also, for some reason, it has a lot to do with outer space.

If you haven't seen the show, you can watch the biggest commercials below.

New space game next year

Alien and alien games, to say the least, differ in quality. And we don't know much about Aliens: Dark Descent, a recently announced part of the franchise. (Maybe it has nothing to do with Frictional Amnesia: The Dark Origin.) Developer Tindalos Interactive describes it as a multiplayer action game where you lead a group of colonial marines against xenomorphs and a new unknown enemy. The game is scheduled to be released on PlayStation and Xbox, as well as on PC, current and next generation in 2023.

New Callisto Protocol game

We've already seen a trailer for The Callisto Protocol, a survival horror game created by Striking Distance Studios, whose members worked on the original Dead Space. But today's event gave us a closer look at the gameplay. The project seems to channel the survival horror style of Dead Space well, with gruesome monsters, a plasma cutter-like weapon, and horrific death animations for your character. As previously announced, the game will begin on December 2.

A new level of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is several months away from its October 28 release, and the Summer Games Festival has shed some light on what we'll find there as we showcase full-fledged level gameplay. The video shows players boarding a ship to disable a missile and survive a storm, highlighting the game's water and wind physics.

The classic platform flashback will get more prizes

Flashback helped create the platformer genre of movies in 1992, and 30 years after its release, it got a sequel. Part Two is developed by French studio Microids and is expected to hit PlayStation, Xbox, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Nintendo Switch in the winter of 2022. That's all we know! You can take a look at the teaser above to get an idea of the liveliness.

Connecting the dead space to the fortress of Solis with the moon

Red Dead Redemption 2 voice actor Troy Baker and Roger Clark lent their voices to Fort Solis, a recently announced game from independent studio Fallen Leaf. Describing Fort Solis as a "very interesting story" and "Duncan Jones's Dead Space Meet the Moon," Baker describes Fort Solis as a fast-paced narrative game set in a remote mining site on Mars. Its trailer says it's coming to Steam.

ROBOT HORROR GAME ROUTINE is ten years late, but it's back

The routine debuted in 2012, promising to put terror on a spacecraft inhabited by dangerous robots. Then it was put off year after year when a relatively inexperienced team tried to complete it. I now have a new trailer that says it will arrive on PC, Xbox Series X, S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass on an unknown date.

Storm Gate is a new strategy game from a team of Blizzard veterans

Founded by former Blizzard developers, including old StarCraft and Warcraft, Frost Giant Studios has just revealed its first title: Sci-Fi Plus Demons RTS called Stormgate. Stormgate is meant to remain "faithful" to the classic format of real-time strategy. But it is meant to be more accessible and use a free model without including pay-to-earn mechanisms or crypto tokens. You can watch a short trailer above.

The world ends at high tide, it's sunny

Golf Club: Wasteland, the new title from developer Demagog, Highwater is an “adventure strategy game set in a world devastated by extreme climate change,” according to Keighley. In Game Fest, we have a colorful yet sad trailer about the characters who travel through a flooded city called Alphaville, showcasing parts of the game's exploration and turn-based combat.

Marvel's Midnight Sun arrives on October 7

Firaxis Games' Marvel Midnight Suns were announced last year at Gamescom and now we have an official release date: October 7. If you forgot, this is a tactical RPG that takes place in the "dark side of the Marvel Universe" and you can check out some of the new footage above.

NAUGHTY DOG creates a new multiplayer game

Important news has been leaked from Naughty Dog ahead of Summer Game Fest: A new version of The Last of Us Part I will be released for PlayStation 5 on September 2, and a PC version is in development. But it also sparked a new project: a multiplayer focused game that's supposed to be the size of single-player titles and feature a "very unique" story. As Naughty Dog co-chairman Neil Druckman described above, the project began in the multiplayer mode The Last of Us Part II. It was later expanded into a game of its own, yet to be named. Concept Art suggests that it will be set in post-apocalyptic San Francisco, with "a whole new set of characters". For now, that's all we know, with more promised next year.
