Murder in the building only Don't miss your chance to return to the case

Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez are back on the case in "Only Construction Murder."

"Only Murders in the Building" returns for a second season that consciously builds on his strengths, while also putting a new puzzle on top of the previous season's ending. It's all hilarious and fun, with plenty of vague references to "Season Two" (the podcast, of course, but you get the point).

After solving the murder that occupied their first adventure, the unexpected trio of Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) turn their attention to their next neighbour. Plus, they have new members to spice up the action, like Amy Schumer as Amy Schumer, who immediately came up with the idea of turning the podcast into a limited series, because it's, well, a TV show.

Being eccentric may be harder than it sounds, but the show does it very well: hire two moody narrators, find a new (and humiliating) acting job for Charles, and climb into the role of Jane. Lynch plays her double, or more, on the sassy podcast of Tina Fey and her beleaguered assistant.

Again, the mystery itself doesn't matter, as episodes with plenty of clues unfold and unfold while happiness derives mostly from terrifying moments, with a short tribute to The Last Mohicans while falling into a ladder trap during a power outage.

While the series doesn't necessarily look entirely new this second time around, it deviates a lot from those little touches and general obsession with true crime. Practically speaking, the timing of his comeback appears designed to boost his exposure to the next round of Emmy nominations in a few weeks' time, which worked out well with "Ted Lasso".

“You could say this is our second season,” Oliver said at one point, referring to the podcast, but like everything else here, it gives you a kind of descriptive commentary on the Hollywood business and the show. -The same.

In fact, you can, that doesn't stop Kill Only from living up to his humble ambitions and killing her again.
"Only Murders in the Building" will premiere its second season on Hulu on June 28.
