Pete Davidson is leaving Saturday Night Live after eight years

With Kate McKinnon, Eddie Bryant and Kyle Mooney.

Pete Davidson is set to leave Saturday Night Live after the show's 47th season later this weekend. Davidson will be joined by Eddie Bryant, Kate McKinnon and Kyle Mooney.

News of his departure indicates that the long-term program is ready to make a major change to its roster and restart the program before next season to introduce new players. McKinnon and Bryant have been staples of SNL since they joined the cast in 2012, breaking the mold with their impressions of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Senator Ted Cruz, respectively. Mooney joined the group in 2013 and has since started working on his signature graphics. Davidson joined the cast as a relatively unknown, but has been underrated over the years. The four cast members have become mainstays of the show over the years and left big shoes to fill after their release.

Davidson's tenure included his famous weekend update, an impression of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and actor Rami Malek. Fans of the series know that after the premiere, recurring character Chad from New York will never live again. Despite his departure, Davidson will continue to maintain his relationship with NBC, where he will co-star as lead, co-writer, and executive producer of the new television series Bupkis alongside Lorne Michaels.
