Danny Elfman had an amazing performance on his first stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio on Saturday night.

"This is the first time I've been on my own in 27 years," producer, songwriter, and former lead singer of Oingo Boingo told the audience. "Thank you for getting me out of all that's called...I forgot," he said humbly at the end of the set. "Thank you... I loved this place."

He came out fast and strong with one of his last singles, "Sorry." It's an amazing cut, but Elfman led the stage and released poison so loud that he's talked candid about it, creating his first solo album in over two decades. Other new performances, such as "Kick Me", "True", "Love in the Time of COVID" and "Happy", were performed with the same passion and given an even greater dimension thanks to the orchestra and chorus.

Film composer Hans Zimmer laid the groundwork for country artists to perform live at Coachella, taking over the same outdoor theater in 2017 and performing music from the films "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Lion King."

However, Elfman and the company had better visuals, using screens on the sides of the stage so those in the back could catch glimpses of the action as performers filmed Pee's "Spider-Man Main Title" and "Breakfast Machine." -Wee Big Adventure . . Great response from the "Batman Theme" from the audience, as did Edward Scissorhands' "Ice Dance". And an animated mushroom associated with the "Alice theme" from "Alice in Wonderland" definitely fits the scene from Coachella.
