UFC 275 fight: Upcoming options for Jerry Prochazka, Glover Teixeira, Valentina Shevchenko and Zhang Weili

UFC 275 fight Upcoming options for Jerry Prochazka, Glover Teixeira, Valentina Shevchenko and Zhang Weili

The UFC may want to pull the trigger on Prochazka vs. Teixeira 2 before it's too late

UFC 275 may not have been the most commercially profitable per show of the year, but it was a barrel of powder to work on. Amazing results set the stage for amazing follow ups.

Jerry Bruchaska and Glover Teixeira used their limbs as a paintbrush and painted violent art on Saturday night. Time and time again, Teixeira overcame adversity and turned the tide. Teixeira came within 30 seconds of winning the War of Attrition before Prochazka did the unthinkable and choke him naked from behind.

Valentina Shevchenko and Zhang Weili also triumphed on the main card. Shevchenko scored a victory over the older Tila Santos and Zhang, who planted Jedrzejczyk's face with a fist in the back. Both are now ready to fight for world titles, although Shevchenko already has titles.

CBS Sports compiled four fights after UFC 275.

Light Heavyweight Division

UFC Light Heavyweight Championship: Jerry Prochazka (c) vs. Glover Teixeira: My apologies to Jan Blachovich, who is hoping to take on Prochazka after UFC 275. He didn't agree. Teixeira, the first-ever UFC champion, came within 30 seconds of defending his title at the age of 42. It would have been the ultimate verification of Teixeira's 20-year career in the sport. They may be the favorites in Fight of the Year, but they may not have two years to bring them back as Zhang and Jedrzejczyk did. The two men sustained heavy damage on Saturday, but Teixeira incurred more damage over time. There are a lot of moving parts in the Light Heavyweight that can disrupt this fight, like Blachowicz, Magomed Ankalaev or Anthony Smith. It may be a good idea to press the iron while it is hot.

Women's flyweight and bantam weight

Women's Bantamweight Championship: Juliana Pena (c) or Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko: It's time for Shevchenko to return to the Women's Bantamweight Championship. Shevchenko was able to win by split decision by defeating Tila Santos at UFC 275. It may not have been a dominant and impressive springboard for a superhero fight, but the truth is that the women's flyweight is detrimental to the new suitors. You'll need to reach the winner of Alexa Grasso (#5) against Viviane Araujo (#7) to find Shevchenko's next competitor at £125. Shevchenko has lost only twice in her career to former women's welterweight champion Amanda Nunes, including a decision that many thought should have gone well for her. Juliana Pena will face Nunes 2 at UFC 277 on July 30. If Nunes wins, Peña will find it difficult to build his case for a second match right away. If Peña wins, Nunes is out, and either way, the door is open for Shevchenko. The women's flyweight champion has expressed her desire to challenge the flyweight belt by the end of the year. It should also leave room for the UFC to create competitors in both divisions, such as Ketlen Vieira (women's bantamweight) and Grasso and Manon Fiorot (women's flyweight).

Women's straw weight division

UFC Women's Butterfly Championship Carla Esparza (c) vs. Zhang Weili: This tournament is a no-brainer. Zhang came out with the biggest knockout of her career, sealing a memorable match with Jedrzejczyk and sending her former champion into retirement. UFC President Dana White has already said that the winner of Zhang vs.Jedrzejczyk is next on the list and that makes a lot of sense. Her opponent, Marina Rodriguez, has struggled to return to the title scene with four wins since losing a split decision to Esparza in 2020. Unfortunately, every dollar spent on the UFC promotional machine can do little to sell Esparza a fight afterward. Namagunas gave him his worst fight: the UFC title in history. Zhang could handle this to some extent. Esparza vs. Book Zhang, as well as Namajunas vs.
